Crystal Corner

Crystal Corner was established in 1984, as a mail order discontinued china and crystal matching service. The original owners, Forney and Mary Ann Lowery, along with young children Audra and Andy worked to make Crystal Corner what it is today, but it began in the basement of their home. There were shelves of crystal in the corner of their basement, which is where the name came from. When Crystal Corner outgrew the Lowery’s basement, it was moved into an old service station beside Pasquale’s Pizza in Boaz. It was then, they added china and gifts and within two years, Crystal Corner outgrew the building.

The Lowery’s purchased a home place on Billy Dyar Blvd, which at the time was only a dirt road. They begin remodeling the home to make a "unique" business. Leaving the home with all its original rooms for gifts and accessories, they begin to design a new addition, enclosing the garage for the discontinued china and crystal. Their many friends and family from St. Paul United Methodist Church, as well as other friends, came in and packed the merchandise in the shop on Hwy 431, and moved it into the new location.

Mary Ann enjoys helping people search and complete their china and crystal sets. Mary Ann, her mother and her family would take trips to different cities in different states searching for discontinued patterns for their customers. Mary Ann said, “It was exciting to go into attics of shops and find many treasures for our customers. Although, there was a price to pay!” They could come out so dirty and dusty from handling the china and crystal, but excited about their treasures. They had established a mailing list and contacted their customers as they located their patterns.

Mary Ann loved the shop, but the china and crystal wasn’t enough. Most of their china and crystal sales were by mail or phone order. Being a person that loves people, Mary Ann wanted local people coming in and out of the shop. Therefore, Crystal Corner is now a ”unique” gift shop with room after room of different treasures. Today Crystal Corner carries bridal china and accessories, dolls, collectibles, children and baby gifts for all occasions, and beautiful home accessories. You’ll find room after room with different gift ideas. Within the last year, they have expanded their baby department and added jewelry, purses and an accessories boutique. They carry birthday, wedding, and anniversary gifts, plus a large collection of Alabama and Auburn gifts and accessories. They are also known as the largest Arthur Court dealer in the Southeast.

Bridal and baby registries are always offered for your convenience. They are known as a "One Stop” shop with "Free Gift Wrapping; a favorite for the Men. You will find gifts for all ages.

Now many interior decorators are shopping at Crystal Corner for home accessories, as you can also find the newest accents for your home.

The Lowery’s love working with people. Sonny, Mary Ann’s husband stays busy operating Lowery Manufacturing, while Mary Ann manages Crystal Corner. Sonny and Andy do all of Crystal Corner’s maintenance work behind the scenes. They love and appreciate all of their loyal customers and friends from near and far. Thanks to the support from their loyal customers and friends, they feel fortunate to still be in business, after 25 years. They look forward to continue serving the people in Boaz and their surrounding areas and invite everyone to come see their “unique” shop. They strive to purchase the latest fashions and trendy items for your family and home. They attend four markets a year to bring the latest fashions, and shop to find competitive prices for their customers.

Once you visit the store, you get a feel of a tastefully decorated shop. Members of their staff have an art for display and decorating and their continued efforts make the store more attractive to their customers. Their friendly staff wants everyone to feel welcome and important.

“The Lowery’s feel so fortunate to have a pleasant and hard-working staff. They have employees that have been with them over 20 years and will probably retire together. Mary Ann states the co-workers all work together for the benefit our business. We call it “Teamwork”. “Sonny and I don’t consider ourselves as their Boss.” They are all just part of the family.
