Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative was organized in 1941 by a group of citizens that saw a need for rural electrification in this area. The cooperative is a non-profit organization that was established to build and maintain an electrical distribution system and supply electrical power to consumers in this area. Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative currently supplies power to areas of Marshall, DeKalb and Etowah Counties.

The cooperative is unique, in that, it is owned by its members. The Board of Trustees is made up of citizens from different districts in our service area and represents each of the consumer-members in those districts.

Presently, Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative has almost 19,000 meters located on over 1,300 miles of lines. With an average of 15 consumer-members per mile it takes many dedicated employees, who work during all types of weather and other emergencies, to keep the lights on.

The employees of Marshall-DeKalb Electric Cooperative are honored to be able to provide electricity to this area and are committed to continuing to provide the most reliable service possible at the lowest possible rate.
